Hello!
Today, I'm participating Altenew July 2017 Release Blog Hop. If you came, from Yoonsun Hur's blog you're on the right track, if not please start at the beginning from Altenew Scrapbook Blog.
Here are two cards of mine that I made for this release. On the first one I stayed in my comfort zone and watercolored the cotton flowers. On the second, I tried to do something that is very unfamiliar to me - I just stamped. Here they are:
On this first card, I used one of my go-to- techniques: watercoloring with Distress Inks. I stamped the flowers from the Cotton Comfort stamp set onto a watercolor paper. I used Antique Linen Distress ink, I stamped one to my actual card front and then the other to a little further away so that I could die cut it out with the co-ordinating Cotton Comfort die.
I used Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Inks to watercolour the flowers. As you may have noticed, I have barely time for crafting and in the midst of busy life at work and home, this little time that I got to use just for myself was a treasure. After my watercoloring was done, I let it dry and I die cut the the other flower with the co-ordinating die. Then I inked a little of that Antique Linen ink on my card front and added a little splatters to get something on the background. To finish up my card, I added a few sequins and stamped the sentiment from an older Altenew set and glued everything together. Pretty pleased with the outcome, what do you think?
On my second card, I challenged myself. No colouring - none. It may sound an odd challenge, not for me. And oh'boy, did I had fun, oh yes - indeed. :D
I only used the Coffee with a Splash stamp set to stamp this card. I used three different shades of Altenew Ink Crisp Inks: Sand Dunes, Paper Bag and Mocha. I didn't really plan how to stamp, I just stamped.
Then die cut a word "coffee" with the Bold Alphabet die. I also die cut four more letters of each and glued them together. I wanted "the coffee"- word to stand out so I inked it up with Mocha ink. I stamped the sentiment with Dark Chocolate Altenew crisp ink.
I think it turned out kinda cool! I don't know why, maybe because this is so unordinary for me to do, but I kinda proud of myself with this card. :D

ReplyDeleteI really like the way you coloured the cotton ball flowers(?). Very vintage looking, but in a clean and simple style.
ReplyDeleteBoth designs are beautiful, but the coffee card makes me smile. My pot just finished brewing and I am off to get a cup! (Pretty much every horizontal surface in my house looks like this!) I am declaring it a fashion trend and attempting to re-create it in paint. (Do you think I could get the folks at Formica to create the look for kitchen countertops?) Thanks for the smiles.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful and so unique. Especially like the cotton bolls. I will be trying your technique with those. Thanks for sharing! Julie L
